John Edward Thompson Jr., 84, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John E. Thompson Sr. and Birdie Chapman Thompson, six sisters, Hattie Harmon, Bess Stumbo, Virginia Henderson, Beulah Sweat, Helen Collins and Elizabeth Sweet, and one brother, Charles “Crossy” Thompson.
Survivors include one sister, Billie Robbins of Glade Spring; several nieces and nephews; a special cousin; and best friend, Ed Thompson.
Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 17, in Pine Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Collins officiating.
D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville was in charge of arrangements.
