Smyth County Jam Bios

Eliot Smith

Eliot Smith - The Smyth County Jam is delighted to welcome Eliot Smith to our venue. This is his first time here. He comes to us from his home in Boone, North Carolina. Eliot has one brother and one sister; both of whom are older than he. He plays guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle and cello. Eliot modestly says "he does not sing much." He has just begun to play with the Cane Mill Road Bluegrass Band. Eliot's grandfather plays guitar, and he states he got interested in music through him. Eliot has been playing music about fifteen years. A favorite musician is the late Doc Watson. He cannot choose a favorite song or tune; "there are just too many to pick one out." Eliot says he likes the jam very much; it is lots of fun! He is home-schooled; a junior in high school currently. Eliot learned about the Smyth County Jam through the Purcells. As a hobby, Eliot builds instruments, he built the guitar he played at the jam. We hope Eliot can return to the Smyth County Jam at every opportunity.
