Smyth County Jam Bios

Hilda & Jay Schwartz Hilda & Jay Schwartz

Hilda (1936-2014) & Jay Schwartz - This lovely couple have been here at the Lion's Club for over twenty years. Hilda cooks and prepares the treats we eat every time we are here, and husband Jay, takes the orders and carries through collecting the money. Hilda says she has been president of the Lion's Club for two different terms. The Schwartz's have been married for fifty-seven years. They have two daughters and a son (deceased). Also, they are proud of their five grandchildren and four great grand children. In June of 2008, Hilda suffered a horrendous accident; she was hit by a car when she was on foot and for nine months was laid up and unable to work at all. They have been with the Smyth County Jam since it began. We hope they will be here with us a long time to come. They are among the best of friends to all of us who attend the jam .
