Clay Russell

Clay Russell - Clay, who is twelve years old, plays bluegrass banjo and mandolin. He lives in Troutdale, Virginia and has been playing banjo for a year or two. In that short time he has entered three fiddler's conventions and won first place in two of them, (Fries and Ashe County) and second place in one (Galax )in the Youth Class! Clay attends school at Grayson Highlands and plays with Emily Spencer there in the Albert Hash Memorial Band. Clay says he might, at some point, look at a career in the field of music. Clay is involved in making a CD with Johnnie Williams currently. He likes the music of Jim Mills. The Smyth County Jam hopes that Clay and his family becomes regulars at the jam.
