Kennis Necessary - The Smyth County Jam is happy to welcome all newcomers to our stage. Kennis was born in Green Cove, Virginia. He now lives in Mountain City, Tennessee. He says he has been playing guitar since he was about eight years of age. Kennis also has a great folk-style repertoire of songs. He is a retired carpenter and has two daughters both of which are grown and gone from home, plus two grand children. Kennis plays in a band titled "Bluegrass Fever." He has two brothers who also play guitar. His father liked to sing gospel music. He says he is devoted fan of Chet Atkins and Merle Travis. One of his favorite songs is "Two Little Boys" which was sung by The Country Gentlemen, several years ago. We hope that he enjoyed his time on stage at the Smyth County Jam and will come back soon and often.
