Smyth County Jam Bios

Campbell Mercer

Campbell Mercer - The Smyth County Jam welcomes Campbell Mercer to our stage. He came a long way -- from Rosine, Kentucky (yes, he lives very near to Bill Monroe's home place). He plays mandolin, banjo and guitar and handles vocals quite well. He has played since he was about nine or ten years old. Campbell is a veterinarian, as well as the producer of RFD TV show--the Cumberland Highlanders Show. He says an older brother was his inspiration musically speaking. When his brother went off to war, he picked up his instruments. Of his three children, the two older ones play music. If anyone would like to go to the website for his show you may do so by clicking on the links below.

Campbell says his all time favorite performer is Bill Monroe. We urge Campbell to come back to the jam anytime he is able.
