Dewey McThenia - Dewey is a faithful member of the Smyth County Jam. Recently he became a member of the Lion's Club in Chilhowie. When he and his first wife, Freda, were married they followed well-known gospel groups all over the Southeastern USA. Dewey retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections; then went back to work maintenance part-time for the next fourteen years. Now days Dewey and his son Dewey Jr have a painting business, which they both did while working for the state, in their off time. Dewey does not play an instrument, but has an appreciation of both old time and bluegrass music. He has four adult children ; three daughters and one son. He and Anne live part time at Adwolfe and part time in Glade Spring--a commuting marriage! Both enjoy estate sales and music events.
