Nina Ketron

Nina Ketron - Nina Ketron says this is her first appreeance on the stage of the Smyth County Jam. She has been here once before, but not on stage. Nina is from Church Hill Tennessee, however, she now lives in Kingsport, TN. She is married to Wallace Ketron and has three adult children; two boys and one girl. Nina plays bass fiddle and sings also. She is in a band called "Potluck Classics." Nina says her "Papa" (grandpa) played harmonica and danced the flat-foot at the same time! She became interested in music from seeing Ruth Mclain at The Carter Fold. Nina began playing bass about fifteen to twenty years ago. She says she likes Jim Reeves and Anita Carter. Nina's favorite song is "Just a Closer Walk with Thee." She says as best she can recall, Addie Keene told her about the Smyth County Jam. Her first impression of the jam is how well organized it is. We appreicate that thought! Nina has retired from nursing, she was an RN with degrees from University of Tennessee, Tusculum College, and a Masters from ETSU. As well, she has been Ms Senior Applachian Fair, and first runner-up in Miss Tennessee America. Nina's husband is a retired Superintendant of the Sullivan County school system.
