John Wayne Davidson, 77, of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021, at SOVAH Health of Martinsville. He was born September 1, 1943 in Saltville, Virginia, to the late John H. Davidson and Kansas Ernest Davidson. He loved music and played the bass, mandolin, guitar and banjo. John loved the Lord, his “Carol”, his family and friends. He loved playing music for the Lord. John played in many bands throughout his life, including Johnson & Co, Stage Coach, and The Southern Gentlemen and enjoyed picking with the Bojangles crowd. He was known for his love of music and his banjo. He had been employed at American Furniture for 45 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Darren Davidson; sister, Judy Davidson; and brother, Ronnie Davidson.

Mr. Davidson is survived by his wife, Carolyn Mabes Davidson; daughters, Sharon Smith and Nikki Holland (Mitchell); son, Danny Davidson (Dana); step-daughters, Leslie Ramey (Rick), Angie Morton, Amy Garland (James), and Jackie Manuel (Daniel); sisters, Peggy DeBord and Dolly Carter (Robert); brother, Dan Davidson (Shirley); fifteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

There will be a funeral service on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at 2:00 P. M. at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date.
