Jackson Cunningham - Jackson comes to the Smyth County Jam from Portland, Oregon; we hope he is going to stay around here. He plays mandolin, guitar and banjo and is a very talented singer, also. Jackson plays with the very popular Whitetop Mountain Band, and is Martha Spencer's boy-friend too! Jackson say his father who lives in Martinsville, VA, plays guitar and sings as well as two brothers who play stringed instruments--a family of talent! Currently Jackson is learning how to build fiddles from Albert Hash's daughter Audrey Hash Ham. Audrey would make a fine teacher as she learned the art at her dad's knee. Jackson says he likes the music of Bill Monroe, Vern Williams, and the Stanley Brothers.
