Thomas Crusenberry (1926-2016)

Thomas "Newton" Crusenberry SALTVILLE, Va. Thomas "Newton" Crusenberry, 89, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, Va. A lifelong resident of Saltville, Va., he was born on January 12, 1926, to the late James Anderson and Bessie Hayden Crusenberry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Rhea Crusenberry; one daughter, Mary Ann Crusenberry; two great-grandsons, Jackson Nathaniel Wilson and Lucian Alexander Crusenberry; and 12 brothers and sisters. He is survived by three sons, Willis Crusenberry and wife, Gail, of Saltville, Va., John Crusenberry and wife, Pam, of Jonesborough, Tenn., and Eddie Crusenberry and wife, Freda, of Bland, Va.; one daughter, Sissy Tuggle and husband, Tommy, of Saltville, Va.; one sister, Katherine "Liz" Russell of Marion, Va.; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his beautiful dahlias, which he loved to grow and share with family and friends. He also enjoyed dancing and regularly attended dances at the Chilhowie Lions Club and local festivals throughout the community. He will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Henderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Wolford officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Rose Cemetery.
