Tom Crawford

Tom Crawford - Tom can play about any instrument, including bass; as well as being an excellent singer. He is a welcome addition to the Smyth County Jam. Tom also makes dobros. He was born and raised in Saltville, VA. The Crawford's have a son and a grandson who play music -- three generations! Tom likes all sorts of music from classical on down the list. He is retired from HS Williams Co.

Thomas Crawford Wednesday, October 14, 1936 - Sunday, July 23, 2017 Saltville, VA In the early morning of July 23, 2017, Thomas “Tom” J. Crawford completed his earthly journey and received his angel wings. He was at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. Tom’s life was a celebration of love and joy. He worked many years with the Olin Corporation before retiring from H.S. Williams of Marion and attended the Freewill Macedonia Church. Tom enjoyed many hobbies, but none of which were as great as his love of music, a skilled musician, singer, and luthier. He was part of multiple bands and played often with his wife and family. He was very devoted to his family who loved him greatly. Tom is preceded in death by his father William J. Crawford and mother Mary Debord Crawford, a sister Norma King, brother William “Brack” Crawford, and a set of infant twin brothers. His is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Blanche “Pattie” Crawford, a son Michael Crawford and wife Teresa of Saltville, three grandchildren, Curtis Crawford and wife Mary of Saltville, Jessica Crawford of Blacksburg, and Tessa Crawford of Saltville, two sisters, Agnes Perry and Lois Stilwell of Saltville, sister-in-law Pat Crawford of Bristol, VA, and many extended family. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday July 26, 2017 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Leonard Smith and Reverend Robert Prater officiating. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday evening from 6 pm - 8 pm prior to service. Entombment will be 11 a.m. Thursday July 27th at Mt. Rose Mausoleum.
