Denise Crawford - Denise Crawford and her husband Donnie come to the Smyth County Jam from Raiford, Florida. (Union County). It is our pleasure they came here to sing and play for us. Denise plays autoharp and sings beautifully. She has logged twenty years playing music. Denise has four sisters who sing with her. She comes from a family of singers. The Crawford's have two daughters; one of whom plays upright bass. Denise teaches kindergarten in the Florida public school system. She is teaching her pupils the old songs that are no longer in vogue. How wonderful to preserve the music of our heritage! The Crawford's have been married for forty years. Denise says her favorite musician/singer is Rhonda Vincent. A favorite song is the Carter Family theme song "Keep on the Sunnyside." She says it is her ambition to learn all the Carter Family songs. That is an awesome task, but one she is well suited for. The Smyth County Jam would be very pleased to have the Crawford's back again.
